Oberon Fuels, producer of clean-burning dimethyl ether (DME) transportation fuel, has begun production of the first renewable DME (rDME) in the United States, and the only current commercial production of this in the world. Once delivered, rDME can be converted to renewable hydrogen at the point of use.

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) has signed a new agreement with Clean Energy Fuels for an estimated 47.5 million gallons of its renewable natural gas (RNG) to fuel the US’ largest transit bus fleet. Ecology, a transportation and logistics company in California, has switched its fleet of more than 600 trucks to run on Neste MY Renewable Diesel and is reporting cleaner fuel filters, fewer maintenance problems and reductions in tailpipe emissions. Neste MY Renewable Diesel reduced climate emissions by 8.3

The European Parliament last week endorsed a series of proposals setting targets for cleaner, more efficient energy use. Among those was a proposal for a binding EU-level target of a 12% share of energy from renewable sources in transport, by 2030. MEPs also want a ban on the use of palm oil from 2021.
