PNNL team develops least costly to date carbon capture system with conversion to methanol

The new PNNL carbon capture and conversion system brings the cost to capture CO 2 down to about $39 per metric ton. PNNL chemist David Heldebrant, who leads the research team behind the new technology, compares the system to recycling. The team brought the cost of capture down to $47.10 per metric ton of CO 2 in 2021.
