Developing technology to address the causes of climate change, mitigate its impact, and adapt to the crisis is one of IEEE’s top priorities. To assist with that effort, the IEEE Young Professionals group this year launched its Climate and Sustainability Task Force.

The IEEE Board of Directors formed an ad hoc committee on climate change in February to coordinate its response to the global threat. that provides buildings with energy-efficiency solutions. The committee will be the face of IEEE on the global platform dealing with these issues. IEEE is here to listen to them.

Last month, the Committee on Climate Change published a report— Net Zero: The UK’s Contribution to Stopping Global Warming —which concluded that “net zero is necessary, feasible and cost effective.” This program falls under NERC’s sustainable use of natural resources (SUNR) strategic theme.

and China’s top climate official, National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Vice Chairman Xie Zhenhua, signed an agreement on climate change—the first between the NDRC and a subnational entity. The NDRC oversees China’s efforts to address climate change and much of the government’s economic strategy.
