GM investing $650M in Lithium Americas; offtake agreement from Thacker Pass

General Motors and Lithium Americas will jointly invest to develop the Thacker Pass mine in Nevada, which is the largest known source of lithium in the United States and the third-largest in the world. Lithium Americas estimates the lithium extracted and processed from the project can support production of up to 1 million EVs per year.

Rio Tinto to acquire Rincon Mining lithium project for $825M

Rio Tinto has entered into a binding agreement to acquire the Rincon lithium project in Argentina from Rincon Mining , a company owned by funds managed by the private equity group Sentient Equity Partners, for $825 million.
