Volvo Cars launched the battery-electric Volvo C40 Recharge; based on the CMA vehicle platform it is the first Volvo model designed as pure electric only. Following the introduction of the XC40 Recharge and now the C40 Recharge, Volvo Cars will roll out several additional electric models in coming years.

The Jeep is ending the sale in France of non-electrified internal combustion engines (ICE) on all the Renegade and Compass ranges; the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee being already only available in 4xe plug-in hybrid versions. The all-new Grand Cherokee 4xe in the Exclusive Launch Edition version will be added to this range.

The bill, HB 1204 / SB 5256 , requires all model year 2030 or later passenger and light-duty vehicles sold in Washington State to be electric. Electric vehicles are defined as “vehicles that use energy stored in rechargeable battery packs or in hydrogen that rely solely on electric motors for propulsion.”.

Major ridesourcing companies Uber and Lyft have promised all-electric fleets by 2030 in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint. The researchers collected simulated rides provided by three fleets: gasoline-powered, and electric-powered with either 40 kWh or 60 kWh battery packs.

The Washington State House Transportation Committee voted 17-12 to advance legislation calling for all model year 2030 or later passenger and light-duty vehicles sold in the state to be electric vehicles (EVs). Model-year 2029 and earlier ICE cars can still be sold and registered in Washington.

On paper, the 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge Twin Ultimate seems like a fine compact EV. It’s already an EV, you’re not waiting for an internal-combustion engine to turn over and fire. To me, it felt like tech for the sake of tech – “Hey, we can do this, so we should, even if it’s not all that beneficial.” And it looks cool.
