Toray and Gordon Murray unveil carbon-fiber T-Wave AR1 Concept EV Sports Car

Toray has teamed up with Gordon Murray Design (creator of the T.27 27 city EV, earlier post ) to create the T-Wave AR1, a concept EV two-seater to demonstrate the extreme weight savings possible with Toray’s carbon fiber composites. Although it is a concept car, the existing design could be homologated for road use.

SGL Group and BMW Group JV to Build New Carbon Fiber Plant; Output Exclusively for Upcoming Megacity Vehicle

SGL Automotive Carbon Fibers LLC, the joint venture between SGL Group and BMW Group ( earlier post ), will build a carbon fiber manufacturing plant in Moses Lake, WA. In the next step, the facility in Moses Lake will convert the polyacrylic fibers into the actual carbon fibers.

Johnson Controls displays 40% lighter CAMISMA seat prototype at NAIAS; planned availability in 2019
