University of Houston team demonstrates new efficient solar water-splitting catalyst for hydrogen production

Green Car Congress

Researchers from the University of Houston (UH) have developed a cobalt(II) oxide (CoO) nanocrystalline catalyst that can carry out overall water splitting with a solar-to-hydrogen efficiency of around 5%. Different sources of light were used, ranging from a laser to white light simulating the solar spectrum.

Duke team develops new core-shell copper nanowire catalyst for efficient water oxidation for solar fuels

Green Car Congress

A transparent film of copper nanowires was transformed into an electrocatalyst for water oxidation by electrodeposition of Ni or Co onto the surface of the nanowires. Water oxidation (2H 2 O → O 2 + 4 e- + 4H + ) is a key step for converting solar energy into chemical fuels. Chen et al. Click to enlarge. times more light.

Researchers at UC Santa Barbara develop efficient and stable plasmonic water splitter; potential alternative to semiconductor-based solar conversion

Green Car Congress

Researchers at UC Santa Barbara have developed an efficient, autonomous solar water-splitting device based on a gold nanorod array in which essentially all charge carriers involved in the oxidation and reduction steps arise from the hot electrons resulting from the excitation of surface plasmons in the nanostructured gold (plasmonic water-splitter).

Reliance and bp begin production from 3rd deepwater field in India’s KG D6 block

Green Car Congress

Discovered in 2013 and sanctioned in 2019, the MJ field is located in water depths of up to 1,200 meters about 30 kilometers from the existing onshore terminal at Gadimoga on the east coast of India. This is expected to account for around one-third of India’s current domestic gas production and meet approximately 15% of India’s demand.
