In its mid-term management plan, Komatsu committed to minimizing environmental impact through its business, targeting a 50% reduction in CO 2 emissions from use of its products and production of its equipment by 2030 (compared to 2010 levels) and a challenge target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

The CMA platform, co-developed by Volvo Cars and Zhejiang Geely Holding (Geely), is an example of the joint development, production and procurement achieved since Geely’s acquisition of Volvo Cars on 2 August 2010. The CMA platform is the foundation for the new Volvo XC40 Recharge; the first of Volvo’s fully-electric Recharge range.

A new European Joint Research Center (JRC) analysis on the deployment of electric vehicles (EV) in Europe concludes that although the sector evolved significantly between 2010 and 2017, progress is still small to be characterized as full-scale commercialization. In 2010, electric vehicles still represented a niche market.

At a ceremony held at the Royal Thames Yacht Club last week, Gideon Goudsmit of African Cats BV was presented with the Royal Thames Mansura Trophy for the performance of the catamaran Green Motion, developed by the company in Durban SA. The Green Motion system is a full-electric retractable propulsion and generation system for sailing yachts.
