Penske’s long-term plans include adding more of these units to its wider network of rental and leasing locations across North America. It has an estimated range of more than 126 miles.

Freightliner plans to deliver an Electric Innovation Fleet of 30 vehicles to customers later this year for further testing under real-world operating conditions. The batteries provide 550 kWh usable capacity, a range of up to 250 miles (402 km) and have the ability to charge up to 80% (providing a range of 200 miles) in about 90 minutes.

Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has delivered the first vehicle in its Freightliner Electric Innovation Fleet—a Freightliner eM2 ( earlier post )—to Penske Truck Leasing, fulfilling its promise to put an electric commercial truck in customer hands in 2018. The range of the eM2 is around 370 km (230 miles).
