DB Schenker plans to acquire 100 Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul for European long-distance haulage operations. DB Schenker and Mercedes-Benz Trucks have signed a joint letter of intent for this purpose. The use of the battery-electric eActros LongHaul is intended to contribute to achieving CO 2 neutrality on DB Schenker's balance sheet by 2040. The electric truck has a range of around 500 km on a single charge and is expected to reach series maturity in 2024.
Ryder will be the latest customer for General Motors' BrightDrop electric vans. The rental company on Monday announced plans to acquire 4,000 BrightDrop vans through 2025, with the first 200 to be ordered this year, according to a company press release. In Q1 2023, Audi of America reported 52,763 deliveries, up 49% year-on-year. Of those sales, 4,438 were battery-electric, up 36.5% from the 3,252 BEVs sold in Q1 2022. However, because overall Audi sales rose, the share of new vehicle sales for BEVs dropped from 9.2% to 8.4%.
