Enel X, Enel's subsidiary dedicated to innovative products and services, together with EV maker Arrival, have entered into a partnership to test the battery-electric bus in Italy. The aim is to foster the growth of electrified public transport globally through increasingly high-performance and competitive solutions. The tests will be carried out by Enel X on the basis of an analysis matrix developed in-house to look at all the main features of the Arrival Bus.
Between longer-range EVs and increased charging infrastructure, the reasons for range anxiety are decreasing. But not everyone believes that, according to a new University of Geneva study. Published in the journal Nature Energy, the study of 2,000 drivers in the United States and Germany found that many drivers chronically underestimate EVs'.
Viritech, an engineering company developing hydrogen powertrain solutions, is partnering with Pininfarina on Apricale hydrogen hypercar. Pininfarina HAS re-interpreted the Apricale’s initial reference design to create a vision of the future of zero-emissions performance motoring. Viritech’s ambition is to be the leading developer of hydrogen powertrain solutions for the automotive, aerospace, marine, and distributed power industries.
Most automakers haven't fully ramped up production of EVs, but they are already considering second-life uses for the batteries going into those vehicles. Audi is working with startup Nunam to install battery modules from decommissioned test vehicles into electric rickshaws, which are scheduled to hit Indian streets in early 2023 as part of a pilot.
Researchers at Beijing University of Technology have developed a thin free-standing composite solid electrolyte (CSE) film for solid-state lithium metal batteries. The film offers high ionic conductivity (2.76×10 -4 S/cm at 25 °C) and wide electrochemical stability window (4.8 V vs. Li + /Li). In an open-access paper published in the RSC journal Chemical Communications , the researchers report that CSE-based solid-state lithium metal batteries with LiCoO 2 cathode present good cycle stability an
We take a look at the technology and market potential of wireless charging for EVs. Automakers are lining up second uses for EV batteries. Range anxiety still exists—without the anxiety—find researchers. And the Megawatt Charging System is ready for next-level infrastructure for electric trucks. This and more, here at Green Car.
Researchers at Texas A&M University and ExxonMobil are developing a method to reprocess petroleum coke—a byproduct of refining crude oil—into graphene, using a chemical process called electrochemical exfoliation. This open-access study was published in NPJ 2D Materials and Applications. Simplified schematic of refinery operations and products: there is a need to push these petroleum streams toward products with low end-use emissions, such as carbon nanomaterials.

Fully electric heavy-duty trucks and buses aren’t going to be widely accepted until they can charge, as the standards group CharIn puts it, “within a reasonable time.” This last week marked another important step, with the official inaugural demonstration (or simulation), at EVS35 in Oslo, of the higher-power hardware intended.
Newly created Basquevolt, the Basque solid-state battery initiative, will begin production of battery cells in 2027 with the aim of reaching 10GWh capacity. Basquevolt founding shareholders include the Basque Government, through the venture capital fund Ezten, Iberdrola, CIE Automotive, Enagás, EIT InnoEnergy and CIC energiGUNE. Basquevolt is supported by an investment of more than €700 million.

Developers of motor control systems are replacing Hall Effect position sensors and older magnetic resolver solutions with inductive alternatives that eliminate expensive magnets and other heavy transformer-based structures so they can be integrated onto simple, compact printed circuit boards (PCBs). Extending the world’s broadest line of inductive position sensors into the EV motor control market, Microchip Technology Inc. announced the LX34070 IC that has been purpose-built for EV motor control

Clean Fleet Report has been impressed with all three versions, as well as Kia’s eco-friendly philosophy that this year saw the debut of the all-new, all-electric EV6.
When dealing with the unfortunate reality that is a road rage situation, plenty of options are available to keep you safe. Locking your doors or attempting to de-escalate the situation before anything major starts are two logical solutions, but a new one might be to buy a Tesla because of their unique door handles, which recently stumped a road rager from entering a car he conflicted with on the road.
Rhode Island just passed legislation that requires the state’s electric suppliers to procure 100% renewable electricity by 2033, using the highest quality (“Class I” or “new”) Renewable Energy Certificates. The Massachusetts legislature, meanwhile, isn’t considering a Renewable Portfolio Standard update in the climate bills that have been passed by the MA House and Senate and are currently being negotiated in the conference committee.
Here at CleanTechnica, we’ve been saying for YEARS that anyone running a fleet should seriously consider electric vehicles as a way to mitigate the impact of fluctuating gas prices. The lower maintenance costs, cheaper fuel, and just having generally steady prices for electricity all add up to a much better experience for drivers and lower […].
