Several states currently offer EV purchase incentives, but a new Vermont program takes things a step further by offering cash to residents who replace a "high-polluting vehicle" with an EV. Called Replace Your Ride (RYR), the program offers $3,000 to Vermont residents who retire an operational vehicle deemed to be high-polluting that is at least.

Our Next Energy (ONE), a Michigan-based energy storage technology company focusing on lithium iron phosphate chemistries ( earlier post ), will invest $1.6 billion in a new battery cell manufacturing plant, called ONE Circle, in Van Buren Township, Michigan. The gigafactory is expected to create 2,112 new jobs when operating at its full annual capacity of 20 GWh by the end of 2027, equivalent to 200,000 electric vehicle battery packs annually.

UK-based Swindon Powertrain is offering a range of high energy density (HED) Li-ion battery packs alongside its range of compact electric powertrains to low-volume car and light commercial vehicle manufacturers and developers. To date, niche manufacturers have had to develop their own packs each time or source parts from used EVs. As well as not knowing their history, such OEM packs tend to be packaged for a specific vehicle, making installation elsewhere difficult.

Tesla is starting production of its electric Semi, and the first of them will be delivered to Pepsi starting December 1, Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed Thursday via Twitter. It’s been a long road to production for the project, which was revealed in 2017, with the company then saying the Semi would go into production in 2019. Excited to.

The Ford F-150 Lightning has already been given a price hike for the 2023 model year—in this case, applying only to base, fleet-oriented Lightning Pro models. The base Lightning Pro now has a $51,974 base price, along with a $1,795 destination charge. Ford originally priced the F-150 Lightning Pro at $39,974—or $41,669 with the $1,695.

Schlumberger has entered into a partnership with Gradiant , a global water solutions provider, to introduce a key sustainable technology into the production process for battery-grade lithium compounds. Schlumberger’s NeoLith Energy venture ( earlier post ) uses a continuous production process to selectively extract lithium from brine and then convert it into a high-purity, battery-grade material.

Gotion will invest some $2.36 billion to build a battery component plant in Big Rapids, Michigan. Once completed, the facility in Big Rapids is expected to produce 150,000 tons of cathode material per year, covering an area estimated to span 260 acres with plans to build two 550,000 square foot production plants along with other supporting facilities.
