The rays of the rising sun have barely reached the foothills of Silicon Valley, but Marcian E. (Ted) Hoff Jr. is already up to his elbows in electronic parts, digging through stacks of dusty circuit boards. This is the monthly flea market at Foothill College, and he rarely misses it. Ted Hoff is part of electronics industry legend. While a research manager at Intel Corp., then based in Mountain View, he realized that silicon technology had advanced to the point that, with careful engineering, a

The emerging electric vehicle market is getting a lot of attention, but the electrification of electric trucks is lagging far behind. On current trends, passenger electric cars, electric buses and other light commercial vehicles may reach the numbers needed for zero emissions by 2050, but medium and heavy trucks are off track. According to BNEF, electric trucks would need to account for about 95 percent of sales in 2040 to meet emissions targets by 2050, but current projections are that they wil
The Tesla Semi could face battery production limits as cell production fights already high demand. Tesla has long faced an overarching problem, too much demand, and too little supply. But as Tesla hopes to introduce the Tesla Semi by the end of the year , they may only exacerbate their already supply-constrained production numbers.
