Universal Hydrogen successfully completes first flight of hydrogen fuel cell powered regional airliner

Green Car Congress

Universal Hydrogen has flown a 40-passenger regional airliner using hydrogen fuel cell propulsion. In this first test flight, one of the airplane’s turbine engines was replaced with Universal Hydrogen’s fuel cell-electric, megawatt-class powertrain. The other remained a conventional engine for safety of flight.

MAN offering pre-chamber spark plugs for turbocharged nat gas engines to increase efficiency; hydrogen admixture up to 20% by volume

Green Car Congress

This includes operation with hydrogen-containing fuels with up to 20% hydrogen admixture. A conversion of the engines is not necessary for the use of pre-chamber spark plugs. Due to the software adjustment of the ignition timing and the reduction of the energy requirement, less powerful ignition control units may be necessary.

Wind-to-Hydrogen Tech Goes to Sea

Cars That Think

Then, as now, wind farms are operating off the world’s coasts—but not all of these offshore sites are connected to the mainland via underwater power cables. They are highly automated production islands that directly convert wind energy to hydrogen, with a few of them processing the gas into fuels and other goods.

Ballard and Forsee Power to develop & commercialize integrated fuel cell & battery solutions for heavy-duty hydrogen mobility

Green Car Congress

This strategic partnership is the beginning of a long-term collaboration involving the co-design, co-development, production, marketing, and sales of integrated fuel cell-battery solutions. The fuel cell module, which is powered by hydrogen stored in tanks on the vehicle, produces electricity which is supplied to the electric powertrain.

New plasma synthesis process for one-step conversion of CO2 and methane into higher value fuel and chemicals

Green Car Congress

A particularly significant route currently being developed for CO 2 utilization is catalytic CO 2 hydrogenation. Instead of using H 2 , direct conversion of CO 2 with CH 4 (dry reforming of methane, DRM) to liquid fuels and chemicals (e.g. acetic acid) represents another promising route for both CO 2 valorisation and CH 4 activation.
