Study finds that dry-feed gasification for coal-to-liquids is more efficient, lower-emitting and cheaper than slurry-feed; CCS cost-effective for reduction of CO2

Green Car Congress

Comparison of coal consumption and CO 2 emissions for co-production and separate production of liquids and power. Conventional CTL plant gasifies coal to produce a syngas which is then converted in a Fischer-Tropsch reactor to products. The conference series rotates between, North America, Europe and Asia. SRI developing process for co-gasification of methane and coal to produce liquid transportation fuels; negligible water consumption, no CO2

Green Car Congress

Researchers from SRI International (SRI) are developing a methane-and-coal-to-liquids process that consumes negligible amounts of water and does not generate carbon dioxide. In conventional CTL approaches, energy is supplied by burning a portion of the coal feed, which then produces carbon dioxide. Production cost of JP8 less than $3.00/gallon.

DOE, RTI to Design and Build Coal Syngas Cleanup System for IGCC Power Plants to Reduce Cost of Removing Contaminants, Capturing CO2; Potential for Synthetic Chemicals and Fuels

Green Car Congress

The system also holds the potential to reduce the cost of producing chemicals, transportation fuels, and substitute natural gas from gasified coal. DOE and RTI will design, build, and test a warm gas cleanup system—based on RTI’s high-temperature syngas cleanup technology—to remove multiple contaminants from coal-derived syngas.

Tesla drivers have smoke blown in their faces | Opinion

EV Central

There is, of course, some kind of cursed crossover in the Ven diagram that includes both the Rick rollers of coal and the people who hate science, but anyway, let’s digress. He is, however, a lover of culture wars and would thus no doubt be a big supporter of rolling coal types.

Opinion: Making Sense of the Stellantis Auto Show Decision

The Truth About Cars

Especially since it wasn’t that long ago that previous versions of what is now Stellantis were known for putting on elaborate press conferences during media days (especially in Detroit). So why would the company drop millions on a display, plus the liability costs of Camp Jeep, when there’s just not a ton new? I could be wrong.

U Chicago, MIT study suggests ongoing use of fossil fuels absent new carbon taxes

Green Car Congress

A paper by a team from the University of Chicago and MIT suggests that technology-driven cost reductions in fossil fuels will lead to the continued use of fossil fuels—oil, gas, and coal—unless governments pass new taxes on carbon emissions. for oil, 24% for coal, and 20% for natural gas. —Christopher Knittel.

biomass or coal). An initial proposed plant using GEM*STAR’s with the Fischer-Tropsch process would produce 70 million gallons of diesel fuel per year at an estimated cost of production of less than $2.00 Conceptual F-T production using process heat from GEM*STAR and coal as a feedstock, from a 2010 ADNA presentation.
