JERA and IHI to demo ammonia co-firing at a large-scale commercial coal-fired power plant

Consortium moves ahead with HESC pilot for conversion of Australian coal to LH2 for transport to Japan

Norwegian startup Blastr plans €4B green steel plant in Finland

Blastr has entered into a Letter of Intent with Nordic energy company Fortum that provides Blastr exclusive rights to utilize the existing industrial site located in Joddböle, Inkoo in Finland, 55 km west of Helsinki. Fortum has developed the Joddböle area since the dismantling of its Inkoo coal-fired power plant there in 2017-2020.

Seattle City Council passes resolution opposing transportation of coal through Seattle for export, measures for mitigating impact

The Seattle City Council unanimously passed Resolution 31379 stating Seattle’s opposition to the transportation of coal through Seattle. There are currently four coal exports under permit review in the Northwest that collectively could increase US coal exports by 150 million tons of coal annually.
