Emissions from motor vehicles, coal-burning and cooking contributed to the dense smogs in Beijing in January, according to research results issued by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Coal burning contributed to 20% of the PM2.5, Motor vehicles account for nearly a quarter of Beijing’s PM2.5, said Wang Yuesi, a CAS researcher.
