ABB has entered into an agreement with Norway’s largest grocery wholesaler ASKO, and its owner NorgesGruppen, to supply charging infrastructure for its growing fleet of electric trucks. ABB will assist ASKO with efficient and reliable charging infrastructure for battery-electric trucks at distribution centers throughout the country.

The e-trucks will operate in fixed routes between Danfoss sites in Denmark, and one of the trucks will operate 24 hours a day, five days per week, without significant charging downtime. Customized super chargers will be utilized to charge the truck’s battery during offloading and onloading at each stop—usually around 15 minutes.

The two trucks that will go into ASKO’s operations have a battery capacity of 165 kWh, giving them a range of 120 km (75 miles), and are charged by 130 kW cable charging. In the long run, electrification will be key to achieving a sustainable transport system for heavy vehicles as well.
