Volvo Car Corporation begins production of the Volvo C30 Electric for leasing customers in Europe

The Volvo Car Corporation has begun production of the C30 Electric ( earlier post ); initial deliveries to leasing customers, mainly companies, authorities and governmental bodies, will take place immediately after the summer. The operating range is up to 150 kilometers (93 miles) per full charge. A full recharge takes about 7 hours.

Electric Car Corporation Plc Launches the Citroën C1 ev’ie Electric Vehicle

UK-based Electric Car Corporation Plc ( ECC ) has officially launched an all-electric version of the Citroën C1, the C1 ev’ie. The 4-seater electric car offers a range of 60-70 miles when fully charged and a top speed of around 60 mph. Its Li-ion battery pack can be fully charged in 6-7 hours from a domestic 13 amp socket.

Subaru introducing its first plug-in hybrid in US; Crosstrek Hybrid

Subaru Corporation is introducing its first plug-in hybrid vehicle, the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, in the US. It also charges the hybrid battery during regenerative braking. The Crosstrek Hybrid is capable of speeds up to 65 mph when in full electric mode and is a full second faster from 0 to 60 mph than the standard Crosstrek.

SAIC introducing Roewe E50 electric vehicle in China

SAIC Motor Corporation Limited (SAIC Motor) is launching the battery-electric Roewe E50 on the market in China. With a 47 kW motor and a battery pack from A123 Systems ( earlier post ), the E50 has a range of 180 km (112 miles) and a top speed of up to 120 km/h (75 mph). The company expects to sell 1,000 of them within the first year.
