Volkswagen and Renault are primed to join forces to work today to develop a new family of electric cars that will be priced less than €20,000 ($A32,000). According to German newspaper Handelsblatt, both VW and Renault are considering the deal that will see both car-makers produce up 250,000 of its bargain basement-priced electric cars.

Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas deemed Tesla and CATL the power couple that could recharge the United States electric vehicle (EV) market. In a note released earlier this week, Morgan Stanley writes that the United States is an under-penetrated EV market, whereas China is a fully-penetrated EV market.

Long-range all-electric trucks like the Tesla Semi will not come cheap. Battery costs are declining quickly, but even Tesla still lists its 300-mile Semi variant with an estimated starting price of $150,000. I really expect Tesla to raise prices on the Semi, its too cheap at this point.
