CSIRO finds hydrogen could reduce aviation emissions within 5 years

A new report from Australia’s national science agency CSIRO shows that clean hydrogen can significantly reduce aviation emissions with potential benefits seen within five years. Hydrogen used for treating crude or bio-crude oil to produce jet fuel with a lower carbon intensity is also considered as an early-stage application.

First cargo vessel operating on hydrogen to debut in Paris; commercial river operations this year

The European innovation project Flagships will deploy the world’s first commercial cargo transport vessel operating on hydrogen, plying the river Seine in Paris. Commercial operations are set to commence in 2021. Blue Line Logistics plans to have the ship operating on hydrogen before the end of 2021.

Rio Tinto and ARENA to study hydrogen calcination to reduce carbon emissions in alumina refining

Rio Tinto has partnered with the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to study whether hydrogen can replace natural gas in alumina refineries to reduce emissions.
