The number of electric vehicle miles traveled (eVMT) has been increasing each year since the introduction of the first mass market plug-in vehicles in late 2010. Beginning in 2014, annual all-electric vehicle eVMT has exceeded that of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in the US, reaching a new high of nearly 10 billion miles in 2020.

Chevrolet Volt owners have accumulated more than half a billion all-electric miles since the vehicle’s launch in 2010. Volt owners who charge regularly typically drive more than 970 miles between fill-ups and visit the gas station less than once a month. Volt owners are doing more than 63% of their overall driving in EV mode.

There are drivers who view the limited range of an electric car as a limitation--and those who view it as a challenge.
