Final California deadline for upgrading heavy-duty diesels to MY2010 or newer engines

California’s Truck and Bus regulation ( earlier post ) has been in effect since December 2008, with the purpose of reducing emissions of diesel particulate matter (PM), oxides of nitrogen (NO x ) and other criteria pollutants from in-use diesel-fueled vehicles. The regulation applies to: Diesel vehicles with a GVWR greater than 14,000 lbs.

EPA issues final air quality permits to Shell for Arctic oil and gas exploration; fleet emissions reduced 50+% from 2010 permits

The permits will allow Shell to operate the Discoverer drillship and a support fleet of icebreakers, oil spill response vessels, and supply ships for up to 120 days each year in the Chukchi Sea and Beaufort Sea Outer Continental Shelf starting in 2012. The permits set limits on air pollution from these vessels.

Port of Los Angeles surpasses 2023 pollution reduction targets five years ahead of schedule; NOx down 60% from 2005

Using this type of measurement, the Port also posted its best year ever, lowering the average amount of emissions the port generates to move each container of cargo for all eight pollutants tracked by the Port’s emissions inventory, including greenhouse gases (GHG), which were down 30% per container on average since 2005.
