EIA estimates that alt fuel vehicles in fleets increased 7% from 2008 to 2009

The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates that the total inventory of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) in fleets in the US in 2009 was about 826,318, up about 7% from 2008. California Energy Commission awards more than $2.6M for natural gas vehicles

The California Energy Commission approved funding of $2,604,000 to help bring more buses and trucks powered by natural gas to the state’s highways. The awards are expected to support the purchase of more than 125 new natural gas vehicles; funding comes from the Commission’s Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program.

Los Angeles Harbor Commission Launches 2009 Alternative Fuel Truck Incentive Program with $44.2M

This initiative follows a 2008 incentive program that put into service more than 2,200 trucks that currently meet or exceed 2007 US EPA emission standards. Since the launch of the Clean Truck Program on 1 October 2008, pollution at the Los Angeles-Long Beach port complex has been reduced by more than 23%, according to the Commission.

California Energy Commission adopts 3rd annual transportation energy Investment Plan; $100M for clean fuels and technologies

The California Energy Commission (CEC) has unanimously adopted the state’s third annual transportation energy Investment Plan to help change the types of vehicles Californians drive and the fuels they use. The Energy Commission’s first investment plan combined $176 million in funds from fiscal years 2008-2009 and 2009-2010.
