The US Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) will hold four alternative fuel workshops over the next three weeks. The Demonstration and Deployment Strategy Workshop will be held 12–13 March at Argonne National Laboratory’s Advanced Photon Source conference center outside of Chicago, Illinois.

The Western Washington (state) Clean Cities Coalition is hosting a workshop next month on renewable natural gas (RNG, or biogas) and its potential as a transportation fuel in Washington state. The workshop will also educate attendees on the logistics and physical components of an RNG project.

The US Department of Energy (DOE) will award ( DE-FOA-0000996 ) up to $12 million in funding to advance the development of a cost-competitive pathway to produce high-performance carbon fiber for vehicle lightweighting from renewable non-food biomass. Prior attempts to produce renewable carbon fiber have focused on converting lignin.

The California Energy Commission staff will conduct a public workshop on 15 December to discuss three grant solicitations to be funded by the Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Program (Program). Alternative and Renewable Fuel Infrastructure. A minimum of $46 million will be available from the three solicitations.

The first workshop focused on hydrogen transmission and distribution and was held at DOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) 25-26 February 2014. During the workshop, attendees will discuss potential solutions for overcoming technical and regulatory barriers to the development of renewable aviation fuel.
