Overall, global fuel economy has improved by an average of 1.7% SUVs now represent nearly 40% of the global LDV market.

Kia targeting annual sales of 1.2M BEVs by 2030; 14 BEV models by 2027 including two electric pickup trucks

Becoming the number one brand in the global purpose-built vehicle (PBV) market by 2030. Starting with an annual global sales goal of 3.15 Kia will expand the proportion of eco-friendly cars from 17% of global sales in 2022 to 52% in 2030. The aim is to achieve 4 million units in 2030, a 27% increase from Kia’s target for 2022.

Pike Research forecasts automotive Li-ion battery market to grow to almost $22B in 2020; China to become global leader in production by 2015

Battery-electric vehicles will be the dominant vehicle technology for driving market growth, Pike suggests, because they utilize much larger battery packs than plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). Current BEVs use battery packs ranging from 16 kWh to 85 kWh compared to PHEV packs ranging from 4 kWh to 16 kWh, for example.
