The California Air Resources Board last week approved the final proposed 2022 Scoping Plan ( earlier post ), a roadmap to reduce demand for petroleum by 94%, cut air pollution by 71%, reduce greenhouse gas emissions 85%, and reach carbon neutrality by 2045.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has approved the US’ first standard to transition ride-hailing fleets to zero-emission vehicles by 2030. The Clean Miles Standard (CMS) ( earlier post ) sets electrification and greenhouse gas emission targets for transportation network companies (TNCs)—e.g., Uber and Lyft.

Researchers from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh have found that the air pollution and greenhouse gas costs of shipping crude by rail are nearly twice as large as those for oil pipelines. Air pollution and greenhouse gas damages for transportation by railroad and pipelines to the gulf coast.

Range Energy announced that its 53-foot electric trailer, the RA, is now eligible for point-of-sale incentives up to $80,000/unit through the California Air Resources Board Clean Off-Road Equipment (CORE) Voucher Program. The RA platform is the first trailer electrification platform to be eligible for the CORE incentive.

Pollutants other than ammonia should probably be targeted for abatement, Paulot said.
