LiquidPiston introduces XTS-210 25hp heavy-fueled rotary engine; 1/5th size & weight of current diesel piston engines of same power

LiquidPiston, an innovator of compact and efficient engine technology and hybrid power systems, intends to commercialize the XTS-210, a 25-horsepower, two-stroke, supercharged, liquid-cooled, 210cc rotary engine. The XTS-210 is heavy-fuel compatible (diesel, Jet A, JP-8, kerosene) and multi-fuel capacble (gasoline, propane, hydrogen). Compared to current piston diesel engines, the XTS-210 design reduces size and weight by nearly 80%, while maintaining comparable power output.

GM BrightDrop electric trucks are headed to Ryder rental fleet

General Motors’ Chevrolet brand reported US deliveries of 19,700 units of the Bolt EV/EUV in Q1 2023. Sales in Q1 2022 were only 358 units, as the Bolt was recovering from the battery issues that halted production and sales of the vehicle earlier in 2021. Combined with Cadillac LYRIQ deliveries of 968 units—and the delivery of 2 units of the HUMMER EV Pickup—General Motors delivered 20,670 battery-electric vehicles in Q1.

Volkswagen ID.4 sales jump 254.2% in Q1 2023; 14.4% of all new vehicle sales

In Q1 2023, Volkswagen of America reported 67,853 units sold—up 4.4% from the 64,993 in Q1 2022. Volkswagen currently has only one EV on the US market: the ID.4. Sales of the ID.4 in Q1 2023 jumped 254.2% to 9,758 units, representing 14.4% of all new vehicle sales for the period. By contrast, in Q1 2022, the ID.4 sold only 2,755 units, representing only 4.2% of new sales.

Audi sees BEV sales in US rise 36.5% in Q1 y-o-y, but share of total sales drop to 8.4%

In Q1 2023, Audi of America reported 52,763 deliveries, up 49% year-on-year. Of those sales, 4,438 were battery-electric, up 36.5% from the 3,252 BEVs sold in Q1 2022. However, because overall Audi sales rose, the share of new vehicle sales for BEVs dropped from 9.2% to 8.4%. The best-selling EV in Q! was the Q4 e-tron, with 1674 units, followed by the older e-tron, with 1,053 units.
