Kia India marked the milestone of producing one million vehicles from its manufacturing facility at Anantapur by rolling out the first unit of its newest innovation—the new Seltos. The new Seltos comes with a new-age design, 32 safety features including Level 2 ADAS with 17 Features and features such as a panoramic sunroof. It is now available for pre-bookings in India.

Bosch has now begun volume production of its Fuel-Cell Power Module (FCPM) at its Stuttgart-Feuerbach location. Nikola Corporation, based in the United States, will serve as the pilot customer with its Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell electric truck, which is scheduled to enter the North American market in the third quarter of 2023. The Bosch plant in Bamberg, Germany, will supply the Feuerbach factory with the fuel-cell stack.

The first Tesla Cybertruck has been produced at Gigafactory Texas. An image of the production all-electric pickup truck was posted by the electric vehicle maker through its official Twitter account. As is typical of the company’s other product-related milestones, a commemorative photo of the production Cybertruck featured the vehicle itself and the Tesla team.

Fortum Battery Recycling has started to examine the feasibility of installing a production facility for sustainable secondary battery materials in the industrial area of Artern, Thuringia, Germany. The black mass facility will be Fortum Battery Recycling’s second hub in Central Europe. In March, Fortum Battery Recycling started its first commercial operations in Germany, Kirchardt, as the first mechanical processing plant was opened.

FREYR Battery has been awarded a €100-million grant from the European Union to support development of FREYR’s Giga Arctic project in Norway. The grant will be funded through the EU’s Innovation Fund (EUIF) as part of the EU’s efforts to promote localized production of battery solutions. Hitachi Astemo announced that Isuzu Motors has adopted its sensing system in its new ELF light-duty truck model. Using a wide-angle stereo camera, the sensing system enables collision damage mitigation braking at intersections and on single-track roads. With its enhanced safety equipment, the new ELF is the first light-duty truck in Japan to be equipped with braking that not only mitigates collision damage from the front, but also for right and left turns at intersections.

The US Department of Energy (DOE) released a Notice of Intent (NOI), which includes a Request for Information (RFI) ( DE-NOI-0202301 ), to invest up to $1 billion in a demand-side initiative to support the Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs (H2Hubs) ( earlier post ). The H2Hubs program will help form the foundation of a national clean hydrogen network. Later this year, the DOE will announce the selection of 6 to 10 H2Hubs for a combined total funding of up to $7 billion in federal funding.

@nov22 In reply to nov22. Tesla does not make all batteries in-house. It just buys most batteries from panasonic, LG, and of course from China's CATL, the world's largest battery maker. Tesla's gigapress casting machines are bought from Hong Kong's LK Technology, a leading maker of gigapress. Again, gigapress is not something invented by tesla. BYD, the leader in EV worldwide, is the only EV maker that makes all the batteries for all its cars.

June saw plugin EVs at 24.6% share in Germany, down from 26.0% year on year. Full electrics grew their share at a decent rate, up from 14.4% to 18.9%, the share of plugin hybrids halved, however, after incentives were cut. Overall auto volume was 280,047 units, up 24.7% YoY, still far down on the pre-2020 norm (roughly 330,000). The Tesla Model Y was the best selling BEV in June, and third best seller of any auto.
