Sparc Technologies announced that Sparc Hydrogen, a JV between the University of Adelaide, Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) and Sparc Technologies, has executed a Kick-Start agreement with the CSIRO to undertake on-sun testing of Sparc Hydrogen’s photocatalytic water splitting (PWS) reactor at the CSIRO Energy Centre in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.

Rivian built 13,992 vehicles and delivered 12,640 vehicles in the second quarter of 2023, the automaker reported Monday. These new Q2 numbers are up significantly versus the 9,395 vehicles made and 7,946 delivered in the first quarter. And they show that Rivian isn't falling much farther behind on deliveries. A Rivian press release said these.

By 2024, nearly 40 La Poste vans fitted with the Michelin Uptis airless tire ( earlier post ) will deliver letters and parcels in the Lesquin, Valenciennes and Douai sectors, in the Hauts-de-France region (North of France). Three initial vehicles will be put into circulation as of June 27, within the framework of a two-year partnership between La Poste and Michelin, a first in France and Europe—following partnerships already formed in Asia.

Technology group Wärtsilä has been contracted by Swedish ferry operator Stena Line to carry out and convert some of its vessels to operate with methanol fuel. The conversions will include the fuel supply system and engine modifications, as well as integrating the new installations with the ships’ existing systems. The contracts were booked as order intake by Wärtsilä in June 2023.

France saw a new EV record high of 26.9% market share in June, up from 19.8% year on year. Full electrics grew from 12.8% to 17.4% share, while plugin hybrids grew from 7.0% to 9.4%.

MAN Engines is now offering pre-chamber spark plugs adapted to the respective combustion chamber to all turbocharged natural gas engines of the current MAN E3262, E3268, E0836 and E0834 series as an option, as well as MAN E3872 as obligatory. Due to backward compatibility, existing combined heat and power plants (CHP) with the aforementioned twelve, eight, six and four-cylinder engines can also be retrofitted with pre-chamber spark plugs using the lean combustion process.

It appears that Tesla has brought over a Model 3 Project Highland unit at the Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds (SHPG) in New Zealand. A photo of the apparent vehicle has been shared online. Tesla is currently holding its winter tests at the Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds, an expansive facility in New Zealand that allows Tesla to winter test its vehicles during the US’ summer months.

Tesla changed its free color option from White to Midnight Silver in North America. The change applied to Model Y and Model 3 vehicles. The white color option now costs $1,000. Lucid Motors made it a point to go above and beyond the industry standard when it released the Air, its first vehicle. With a range of over 500 miles, the Air was a strong statement from the EV maker. It entered the electric luxury sedan market late, but its range alone showed that it was a serious contender. While the Lucid Air is not selling as strongly as its rivals like the Porsche Taycan and the Tesla Model S, the luxury electric vehicle maker is nonetheless optimistic about its potential.
