UK-based Electrofit introduced its first electric crate motor, the 100 kW CM100KW1, with a launch offer of £5,250 (US$5,800) + VAT. This compact Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) unit is a permanent synchronous magnet motor with a built-in inverter that significantly reduces cost (with a typical inverter costing around £3,000) and complexity of integration.

General Motors has already been abundantly clear that it sees its future—and a big business opportunity—in electric vehicles. On Tuesday it confirmed that it plans to offer its first home energy system with the retail launch of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV due to arrive in fall 2023. StoreDot, the Israel-based developer of extreme fast charging battery technology for electric vehicles, has delivered cells that have exceeded 1000 cycles in production-ready EV form factor. The 300Wh/kg, 700 Wh/l high energy density cells are being shipped in pouch format to StoreDot’s global automotive OEM partners for real-world testing. The cells exhibit the promised ‘100in5’ EV performance, allowing drivers to charge consecutively 100 miles of range for each 5 minutes of charging.

Foxconn recently signed a memorandum of understanding with IndiEV to build initial versions of the startup's One EV at its Ohio factory, while also showing two more EVs of its own. Under the agreement, Foxconn will manufacture "the first Indi One prototype vehicles" at its factory in Lordstown, Ohio, according to a company press release. It's one.

Allison Transmission introduced the eGen Force electric hybrid propulsion system for tracked combat vehicles. Designed for 50-ton tracked vehicles, the eGen Force meets the requirements for the US Army’s Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (OMFV) program. The eGen Force is also scalable to 70-ton tracked vehicles, making it capable of meeting future Main Battle Tank requirements as well.

Honeywell announced a new ethanol-to-jet fuel (ETJ) processing technology that allows producers to convert corn-based, cellulosic, or sugar-based ethanol into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Depending on the type of ethanol feedstock used, jet fuel produced from Honeywell’s ethanol-to-jet fuel process can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 80% on a total lifecycle basis, compared to petroleum-based jet fuel (based on the EPA’s summary LCA of GHG emissions for sugarcane.).

FREYR Battery has entered into an agreement with Aleees , the Taiwan-based lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) cathode battery material manufacturer. The agreement, which includes ongoing services and support from Aleees, provides FREYR with a worldwide license to produce and sell LFP cathode material based on Aleees’ technology, and to build production facilities leveraging Aleees’ industrial expertise.
