MAN presents hydrogen roadmap; use in fuel cells and combustion engines

Green Car Congress

Apart from the rapid development of battery technology, hydrogen is a good complementary option as an alternative fuel for long-distance transport. When in use, fuel cells do not cause any climate-damaging emissions, as they only emit water vapor. The aim is to test the entire hydrogen ecosystem in transport logistics.

Empa and partners exploring DME as fuel with new heavy-duty test engine

Green Car Congress

The diesel engine on the Empa test facility was tuned to DME. In contrast to diesel, the highly volatile DME has almost no lubricating qualities, which can quickly destroy the high-pressure pump of a common rail injection system. Finally, the combustion chambers and compression ratio of the former diesel engine have also been modified.
