Continental to supply turbochargers for new Ford 1.0L EcoBoost engines

Developed for the latest 1-liter downsized gasoline engines. Continental will be supplying Ford with turbochargers for the carmaker’s new three-cylinder direct injection gasoline engine platform. But since Continental’s turbocharger design is scalable and flexible, it can be adapted to larger gasoline or diesel engines as well.

Ford displays prototype Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic hood

At the Composites Europe event in Dusseldorf, Ford Motor Company displayed a prototype carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) hood. Ford says that advanced materials such as carbon fiber are key to it plans to reduce the weight of its cars by up to 340 kg (750 lbs) by the end of the decade. At least 50% reduction in component weight.
