Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has delivered the first vehicle in its Freightliner Electric Innovation Fleet—a Freightliner eM2 ( earlier post )—to Penske Truck Leasing, fulfilling its promise to put an electric commercial truck in customer hands in 2018. The range of the eM2 is around 370 km (230 miles).

Nikola Tre FCEV receives CARB HVIP incentive eligibility; $240,000 to $288,000 per truck

This approval will now enable customers of Nikola’s Tre FCEV to access a point-of-sale incentive starting at $240,000 and ranging up to $288,000 per truck, in 2023. Customers will also be eligible for a $40,000 clean commercial vehicle tax credit from the federal government due to the passage of the “Inflation Reduction Act”.

Hexagon Purus and Ballard partnering on Class 6 & 7 fuel cell trucks

The companies introduced a Class 6 prototype at the ACT Expo in Long Beach. This truck will provide a range of more than 400 miles and refueling times comparable to conventional trucks. The truck will enter California’s Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Program (HVIP) eligible vehicle list in 2022.

SoCalGas & California Energy Commission funding project to test hydrogen fuel cell technology for harbor craft; led by ZEI

The Small Fast Harbor Craft Project, led by Zero Emission Industries’ ( ZEI ) (formerly Golden Gate Zero Emission Marine) will test a commercial marine vessel modified to incorporate a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain. Supported boat speeds range from a few knots to more than 50 knots.
