China-based Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC) reported successful testing of non-desalinated seawater electrolysis technology for hydrogen production powered by offshore wind. This project was a joint effort by DEC and a research team led by Academician Xie Heping from the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Northern Graphite closes acquisition of two graphite mines; 3rd largest non-Chinese graphite company

Canada-based Northern Graphite Corporation has closed its previously announced acquisition of the producing Lac des Iles graphite mine (LDI) in Québec from a subsidiary of Imerys SA and the Okanjande graphite deposit/Okorusu processing plant in Namibia from a subsidiary of Imerys and its joint venture partner.

Saudi Aramco starts Arabian Heavy crude production in Manifa field; 500k bpd by July 2013, 900k bpd by 2014

The Manifa field includes dry-land rigs linked by a total of 41 kilometers of causeways with a number of elevated bridges designed to maintain natural water flow in the Manifa Bay and preserving natural marine nurseries. Four pipelines will connect Manifa to KGP and Ras az-Zour for gas processing and raw power production.

EV startup Byton commissions D?rr for paint shop; EcoInCure technology
