Audi and partners piloting project to turn faulty car glass into new windowpanes for the Audi Q4 e-tron

Green Car Congress

Faulty car windows often go in the recycling bin when the cracked part cannot be fixed. This is where Audi and its partner companies Reiling Glas Recycling, Saint-Gobain Glass, and Saint-Gobain Sekurit are now doing pioneering work as part of a joint pilot project. A closed material circuit does not yet exist for damaged car glass.

UH team reports new catalyst efficiently produces hydrogen from seawater; promising for large-scale hydrogen production, desalination

Green Car Congress

Chlorine ions are especially problematic, in part because chlorine requires just slightly higher voltage to free than is needed to free hydrogen. The catalysts were integrated into a two-electrode alkaline electrolyzer, which can be powered by waste heat via a thermoelectric device or by an AA battery.

Electrolyzed Water for More Efficient Fuel Production from Ethanol Waste Products

Green Car Congress

Using electrolyzed water rather than harsh chemicals could be a more effective and environmentally friendly method in the pretreatment of ethanol waste products to produce an acetone-butanol-ethanol fuel mix, according to research conducted at the University of Illinois. Using the strong sulfuric acid method, there was no fuel produced.

Aqua Metals is building a more sustainable battery recycling ecosystem

Charged EVs

Several companies are developing chemical processes, but these are still at pilot scale, and Aqua’s execs see serious challenges in delivering the required product purity and dealing with waste streams. We’re a little behind in that part, but we have passed the IRA recently. David Regan: I think it’s a regulatory issue.
