Through its Cycle 1 California ZEV Investment Plan, Electrify America is developing a network of electric vehicle charging stations along highly traveled highways and in six California metropolitan areas which include Fresno, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose.

Level 2 charging will provide for a charging speed up to 20-25 miles of driving range per hour, which would allow drivers to fully charge their electric vehicles at their home or workplace. The 2,800 Level 2 charging stations will be located at approximately 500 sites, all with more than one charging station.

The Route retrofit drive system includes: Range-extending generator. With its conventional diesel powertrain, the NPR averaged about 12 miles per gallon in testing with a metro drive cycle. While continuing to meet payload, power, and range expectations of fleet operators, the Route offers a 3-5 year return on investment.
