The 24 NiMH batteries in my Toyota RAV4 EV take the car 120 miles without gasoline. Would a Lithium-ion battery be better?

He's a bit surprised, as are all of us, that Nissan has emerged as the first big automaker to manufacture a mass-produced electric car. The LEAF pack has fewer kWh than my RAV4 EV, but could be almost as heavy. The Honda EV+ used the same Panasonic EV-95 NiMH battery modules with an active system, and those packs didn't last as long.
