Researchers at the Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) and UC Berkeley have analyzed the cost, energy, and environmental implications of a fleet of self-driving electric vehicles operating in Manhattan. We suspected you wouldn’t need as much for taxis. The standard now is 200 miles.

It would make sense for the cars to be able to charge themselves without needing a person to plug them in if they were capable of driving alone.
