A Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) team has developed a mechanical testing device to analyze fluids and lubricants formulated for electric vehicles. The team modified a commercial tribology testing device to give it the capability to evaluate the impact of electric currents in fluids, measuring the wear and friction on the automobile parts in the presence of an applied voltage.

Mercedes-Benz will soon have three fully electric SUVs for sale in the U.S., including the smaller EQB and larger EQS SUV models already on sale. On Wednesday, it released prices for the middle model, the 2023 Mercedes EQE SUV. The EQE SUV has all the makings of a made-in-America EV. It’s due to be built in Alabama, with its 108-kwh battery.

Lamborghini has provided the first details of its first HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle) hybrid super sports car, codenamed LB744, which will make its debut shortly.The LB744 features an all-new architecture with new powertrain tnat delivers 1015 CV in total, combining the power of a new 12-cylinder internal combustion engine with three electric motors and a new double clutch gearbox that makes its debut on the 12-cylinder Lamborghini.

Certain 2023 Nissan Ariya electric SUVs are being recalled because their steering wheels might detach. Nissan is advising owners to check their cars and contact a dealership immediately if the steering wheel appears loose. The recall covers 1,063 vehicles, although Nissan claims in the recall report that only 0.18% (roughly 2 of this set) might be.

Schindler Elevator Corporation plans to implement , through its fleet management company, the use of fifty (50) 2023 Canoo Lifestyle Delivery Vehicle (LDV) battery-electric vans. The first in its industry to announce its intent to use EV light-duty vans in the United States, Schindler is committed to net-zero emission by 2040. The Canoo LDV is a Class 1 BEV Utility Van.

Scientists at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) have developed a conductive polymer coating—called HOS-PFM—that could enable longer lasting, more powerful lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles.
