Researchers at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), with colleagues at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Illinois at Chicago have developed an electrolyzer capable of converting carbon dioxide into propane in a manner that is both scalable and economically viable. A paper on the work is published in Propane is a tri-carbon (C 3 ) alkane widely used as a fuel.

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) has added two hydrogen fuel cell electric buses to its fleet. This technology is the first of its kind in Nevada, and the buses are the first hydrogen fuel cell electric buses to be operational statewide. The hydrogen buses were funded with a $3.8-million Low or No Emission Grant from the US Department of Transportation.
