The plant will feature SGH2’s technology, which will gasify recycled mixed paper waste to produce green hydrogen that reduces carbon emissions by two to three times more than green hydrogen produced using electrolysis and renewable energy, and is five to seven times cheaper. The facility will process 42,000 tons of recycled waste annually.

Ballard Power Systems has partnered with GS Platech, a subsidiary of GS Caltex, one of South Korea’s largest petroleum refiners, to demonstrate waste-to-energy power generation using zero-emission fuel cells and hydrogen produced from processing of municipal solid waste.

An article in the latest issue of IEA Energy: The Journal of the International Energy Agency reports that Estonia, which has the most developed oil shale industry in the world, is collaborating in pursuing wider use of oil shale in a cleaner, more sustainable manner. Different that shale oil—i.e., of global and 17% of European reserves.

The agreement to supply some 160,000 tons of biopropane over a four-year period is the first of its kind. LPG already provides our customers with a cleaner rural energy choice to the high-carbon fuel alternatives many are dependent on in off-grid areas. LanzaTech has developed a gas fermentation process based on biological catalysts to make fuels and chemicals from a range of waste gases instead of sugars and yeast.
