EU Innovation Fund grants €108M to RWE’s waste-to-hydrogen project FUREC

RWE's FUREC project, which aims to produce circular and green hydrogen from non-recyclable municipal solid waste in Limburg, the Netherlands, received a €108-million grant from the EU’s Innovation Fund. The plant is expected to produce 54,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year. A final investment decision is to be made in 2024.

US-based Raven SR to build waste-to-hydrogen project in Spain

Raven SR, a US-based renewable fuels company ( earlier post ), plans to build a waste-to-hydrogen production facility in Aragón, Spain, following the opening of its subsidiary Raven SR Iberia in Zaragoza, announced earlier this month. As a non-combustion process, there is no ash, no slag, build up, or hotspots in the equipment.

SGH2 building largest green hydrogen production facility in California; gasification of waste into H2

Energy company SGH2 is bringing the world’s biggest green hydrogen production facility to Lancaster, California. In the gasification island’s catalyst-bed chamber, plasma torches generate such high temperatures (3500 ºC - 4000 ºC), that the waste feedstock disintegrates into its molecular compounds, without combustion ash or toxic fly ash.

Repsol produces renewable hydrogen from biomethane from urban solid waste

TECO 2030 leading project to build hydrogen-powered high-speed vessel for the Port of Narvik

Together with eight project partners, it is now seeking public funding to build one of the world’s first hydrogen-powered high-speed vessels. The boat will be equipped with hydrogen fuel cells from TECO 2030 and will be built by the shipyard Grovfjord Mekaniske Verksted (GMV), which is located near Narvik.
