Sandia team puts power into local grid with supercritical CO2 closed-loop Brayton-cycle turbine

Sandia National Laboratories researchers recently delivered electricity produced by a new power-generating system to the Sandia-Kirtland Air Force Base electrical grid. It took us a long time to get the data needed to let us connect to the grid. In comparison, the Brayton cycle has a theoretical conversion efficiency upwards of 50%.

Volvo Buses in project researching use of second-life electric bus batteries to store solar energy

This is part of a research project in which Volvo Buses, Göteborg Energi, Riksbyggen and Johanneberg Science Park are working together to examine electricity storage in apartment blocks that have their own electricity production via solar panels. EU Innovation Fund grants €108M to RWE’s waste-to-hydrogen project FUREC

As part of the FUREC project, RWE plans to build a pre-treatment plant in Zevenellen, Limburg, to convert non-recyclable municipal solid waste (MSW) into solid recovered fuel pellets. The CO 2 released during the hydrogen production is captured and can be stored or possibly used as a raw material by industry in the future.
