Not all were, of course, as there is still plenty of interest around gasoline-propelled cars, SUVs and trucks. The ongoing chip shortage has adversely affected the auto industry, and Ford has acknowledged this. This is quite unfortunate, as the Mach-E is proving its popularity in Ford’s dealer lots. In April alone, Ford sold 3,365 F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid pickups and 3,695 electrified Ford Escape SUVs.

The company has introduced the Dark Edition pack with the first launch on the Harrier SUV in 2019. The new electric SUV compact is available in XZ+ and XZ+ LUX variants. Tata Motors has launched the Dark editions of the Altroz, Nexon and Nexon EV in India. Priced up to Rs 45,000 more than the standard versions.

The sharp-lined VF Wild ute is the work of an independent design studio in Melbourne called GoMotiv, as is the VF 3 mini electric SUV rolled out alongside it at CES. It is now based in inner city Abbotsford and has 23 staff sourced from GM-H and Ford as well as internationally from auto companies such as Jaguar Land Rover and McLaren.
