Ballard Power Systems signed an agreement with Transport for London (TfL) to extend the operation of eight hydrogen fuel cell buses in London for five more years. Three additional zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell buses joined the fleet in 2013. All eight buses are powered by Ballard’s FCvelocity fuel cell module.

Electrified Fleets vs Air Pollution Deaths. They Tesla cars will replace internal combustion engine vehicles, reducing air pollution in London. As per Amber , about 3,600 to 4,100 premature deaths in London are attributed to air pollution every year. However, levels of air pollution in London are still too high for many people.

The Board of Transport for London (TfL) approved a production order for up to 600 of New Bus for London vehicles over the next four years. This will create the largest fleet of hybrid buses in Europe, according to TfL. The introduction of the 600 buses will reduce CO 2 emissions in London by around 20,600 tonnes a year.

Ford Motor Company will begin making its London-based GoDrive car-sharing service available to the public. The service offers flexible, practical and affordable access to a fleet of cars for one-way journeys with easy parking throughout the city. Half of the fleet consists of Focus Electric vehicles. In Lewisham, a district in the southeast of London, a Mercedes-Benz Econic 1838 4x2 with an electric tipper and crusher body has recently been put into service. Lewisham Town Council bought its first Econic in 2013. Today they only use Econic vehicles in their fleet. The battery pack is charged overnight in the depot (plug-in).

The city of London, England is set to have its first all-electric taxi fleet from the second quarter of 2013. Taxi company greentomatocars and Chinese carmaker BYD have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will see greentomato cars running a fleet of 50 BYD e6 electric crossovers.
