Ballard to operate and support hydrogen fuel cell bus fleet in London for 5 more years

Ballard Power Systems signed an agreement with Transport for London (TfL) to extend the operation of eight hydrogen fuel cell buses in London for five more years. Three additional zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell buses joined the fleet in 2013. All eight buses are powered by Ballard’s FCvelocity fuel cell module.

TfL Board approves production order for 600 new hybrid buses for London

The Board of Transport for London (TfL) approved a production order for up to 600 of New Bus for London vehicles over the next four years. This will create the largest fleet of hybrid buses in Europe, according to TfL. The introduction of the 600 buses will reduce CO 2 emissions in London by around 20,600 tonnes a year.

In Lewisham, a district in the southeast of London, a Mercedes-Benz Econic 1838 4x2 with an electric tipper and crusher body has recently been put into service. Lewisham Town Council bought its first Econic in 2013. Today they only use Econic vehicles in their fleet. The battery pack is charged overnight in the depot (plug-in).
