The results for 2012 mark six straight years of improving air quality in the harbor area due to the Port’s focused efforts to reduce air pollution caused by goods movement. Greenhouse gases were lowered by 24%.

Mayor of London floats action plan to reduce city’s air pollution

Study finds that worldwide SO2 emissions rose between 2000-2005 after decade of decline; China, shipping topped growth

The analysis by researchers in the US and Europe estimates anthropogenic global and regional sulfur dioxide emissions spanning the period 1850–2005 using a bottom-up mass balance method, calibrated to country-level inventory data.
