As a direct result of the state’s Clean Cars 4 All program, more than 10,000 Californians have now scrapped old, dirty cars and replaced them with cleaner alternatives such as new and used zero-emission, plug-in hybrid, or hybrid cars. As of 30 September 2020, $82.5 million had been spent on incentives within Clean Cars 4 All.

Electric and plug-in hybrid electric cars are now 7.8% of all new car sales in California, and some areas such as Sacramento and San Luis Obispo counties nearly doubled their EV rebates over this past year. CVRP promotes clean-vehicle adoption by offering rebates for the purchase or lease of new, eligible zero-emission vehicles.

There are other related programs that also support consumers considering purchasing or leasing an electric vehicle. CALSTART’s Hybrid Truck Users Forum (HTUF) Small Hybrid Bus Working Group members have selected the supplier team of StarTrans-Azure Dynamics for a 16-plus vehicle national hybrid-electric bus procurement. StarTrans also manufactures buses on their newest platform, the Balance Hybrid Drive, which utilizes the Ford E450 chassis.

The California Air Resources Board (ARB) has tentaively scheduled the first Advanced Clean Transit Advisory Committee meeting for 29 January 2016 in Sacramento. Transit agencies that chose to follow the diesel path option were required to demonstrate zero-emission buses, with 15% of new buses purchased to be zero-emission beginning in 2008.
