BMW deploying iX5 Hydrogen pilot fleet

After four years of development work, the BMW iX5 Hydrogen vehicle and its development project are entering its next phase as the first vehicles enter a pilot fleet of less than 100 vehicles. The fleet is being deployed internationally for demonstration and trial purposes. Filling up the hydrogen tanks only takes three to four minutes.

Proterra announced that Broward County Transit (BCT) has agreed to purchase 12 40-foot Proterra ZX5 battery-electric transit buses with 660 kWh of onboard energy and the DuoPower drivetrain. The DuoPower drivetrain features two electric motors that deliver 550 horsepower, accelerating a ZX5 bus from 0 to 20 mph in under six seconds.
