Chevrolet has officially introduced its third EV this year: the 2024 Equinox EV. With a starting price of around $30,000 on the 1LT base trim, the Equinox EV plugs Chevrolet into the critical compact SUV segment; GM says it expects the EV to be the most affordable EV in its class. There's a new commercial EV startup on the block. It's called Harbinger, and claims to have an EV platform for medium-duty trucks that will erase the up-front cost premium over current gasoline and diesel trucks. The platform incorporates an "eAxle" that combines the motor, gearbox, and inverter in one unit, a modular battery pack, and streamlined.

Cummins will expand PEM electrolyzer manufacturing capacity at its Oevel, Belgium, factory to 1 gigawatt with the support from the Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) Hy2Tech program. IPCEI—recently approved by the European Commission, with funding granted by Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship Agency (VLAIO)—will help Cummins develop a new generation of PEM electrolyzer cell stacks to power large-scale hydrogen production systems.

Mullen Automotive, an emerging EV manufacturer, is acquiring a controlling interest in EV truck maker Bollinger Motors. This is Mullen’s first EV acquisition and propels the company into the medium-duty truck classes 3-6, along with the B1 and B2 sport utility trucks. The purchase price is $148.2 million in cash and stock for a 60% controlling interest, which gives Mullen the majority ownership of Bollinger Motors.

Jeep will introduce four all-electric SUVs in North America and Europe by the end of 2025.
